Swim Lesson Levels
Level 1
Swimmers will learn the basics; water safety, entry and exit independently, kicking, beginnings of arm scoops, glides, floats, bobs, and bubbles. Swimmer should be ready and willing to learn before enrolling in this level.
Level 2
Swimmers will build on skills learned in Level 1. Skills learned in this level include refining kicking and arm scoops, glides in streamline, independent swimming on front and back, kicking on side. Enroll your swimmer if they can: kick and scoop 5 yards independently, comfortable putting face/head in water, can listen and follow directions.
Level 3
Swimmers will build on skills learned in Level 2. Skills learned in this level will include rotary breathing, refining freestyle and backstroke, breaststroke kick, streamlines, and endurance. Enroll your swimmer if her or she can: swim 5 yards on front independently and 5 yards on back independently while not struggling or hesitant to do so and be able to jump into the pool and recover alone.
Level 4
Skills learned will include: refining freestyle and backstroke technique learned in Level 3, breaststroke kick, beginnings of butterfly kick, work on increasing endurance, introduction to drills, and treading water. Enroll your swimmer in this level if he or she can: swim 5 yards freestyle with side breathing, swim 5 yards backstroke with controlled kick, retrieve an object from the bottom of the pool, and can tread water for 15 seconds.
Level 5
Skills learned in this level will build on what was learned in Level 4 include: refinement of freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke through drills and competitive stroke development, butterfly kick, and introduction to competitive swimming language and structure. Enroll your swimmer in this level if he or she can: swim 15 yards freestyle confidently with sidebreathing, 15 yards backstroke confidently, 12.5 yards legal breaststroke and butterfly kick, and treading water for 30 seconds.
